Amboseli National Park – Elephants & Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli National Park

Overview

Amboseli is famous for its massive elephant herds and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. This is a long day (13-14 hours) but rewarding for those seeking that classic Africa postcard shot – elephants with Kili in the background.

You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel at 5:00 AM for the 4-5 hour drive south to Amboseli National Park. Enjoy the scenic drive through Maasai country, passing local homesteads and herdsmen grazing their cattle.

Morning (8:00 AM – 12:30 PM)
Arrive at Amboseli and begin your game drive in a tour van with a pop-up roof. Search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, and warthogs. Visit Observation Hill for panoramic park views and, if the weather is clear, breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Lunch (12:30 PM – 2:00 PM)
Enjoy a buffet lunch at Ol Tukai Lodge or similar lodge within the park.

Afternoon (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
Take a short early afternoon game drive as you exit the park, giving you a final chance to spot wildlife. Depart for Nairobi, arriving back at your hotel in the early evening (approximately 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM).
